Client environment

Postby Andreas Humenberger » Wed Jul 30, 2014 6:11 pm

Dear organizers,

in order to make the installation and the compatibility tests as smooth as possible, it would be nice to have some further information about the environment the client is playing in.
This information would be important to test our client in a competition environment to avoid problems. The info I found so far is that the client can run either on Ubuntu or Windows, but nothing more concrete (maybe I missed something).

The most important information is the following:
- operating system + version
- is it a clean installation of the OS or will you install additional software

Best,
Andreas

Dear Andreas,

we have two options where we can run the agents:

win 7, 32 bit
installed software: java 7, chrome

Ubuntu 13.04, 64 bit
installed software: java 7, chrome

The default we use is ubuntu, but if a team prefers we can run it on win 7.
We will install additional software if you tell us exactly what you need (up to a certain degree...)

The system we run your agent on has 4GB RAM and uses an Intel Core i5-2520M processor with 2.5GHz.

Jochen

Dear Jochen,

thank you for your reply.

I'm just wondering if you are really using Ubuntu 13.04?! Because we are experiencing some issues with apt-get and several missing packages (git-core, libtool, autoconf,...) on Ubuntu 13.04.
It is a bit odd, because the installation of our agent in the context of your compatibility tests worked fine.
(Before we submitted our agent for the compatibility tests we performed our tests on Ubuntu 14.04.)

Best,
Andi

Dear Andi,

we installed Ubuntu 14.04 and it worked well. Since you are the only team that requires Linux, we can update to 14.04 and use that for the competition.

Also, please ask your team lead to update your team profile under http://aibirds.org/team-login.html as I don't have your name listed yet.

Regards,
Jochen
