Middleware server

Postby Diego Cerdán » Thu Jul 18, 2013 9:22 pm

Are we required to run our client using the middleware server (Server.jar) as stated in point 6B of the "Getting Started" document?

Can we run without it as stated in point 6A?

Hi Diego,

we are running the server during the competition. You only run your client and communicate with our server. The server.jar discribed in point 6B is only for you to test that your client communicates correctly with the server.

There is a problem while running the server. The error message pops up like this 'unable to connect to the server.' I am under a corporate network and I do not think that is the problem. I have disabled the firewall and antivirus restrictions, however, nothing works out.

Hi,

did you first start the server and then start the client?
The server runs on localhost and should not be affected by a firewall.

Please let us know the exact commands you used when the error occured.

Regards,
Jochen
