Terrain recognition

Any ideas how we can improve the competition, our basic software, etc.?

Terrain recognition

Hi,

Do you plan to develop your software to be able to detect the terrain of a level ? It can matter for the level 1-8 for example (or even 1-3 in some extent), and it become a part of the gameplay to take into consideration after the ten first levels passed.

Thanks.

Hi akear,

I think I have already answered this question in the Competition Rules section.

No, I don't think we will do that. You would have to do it yourself if you think that it will be useful.
It should be easily possible to do it using similar methods as we used for detecting the other objects.

There are two reasons why we don't do it:
1. There is no uniform representation for the terrain, using bounding boxes would be not very useful. So we want to give every participant the opportunity to develop what they think is best for representing the terrain.

2. That's a good way for teams to distinguish themselves from other teams and to potentially significantly improve performance :)

Regards,
Jochen

Since we're talking about what will be implemented in the framework, do you know when the end game score detection will be done ? Or do we have to do it ourselves ?

Thanks

Hi, we will upload a new version this week. It will include detection of white and black birds, TNT and also the game score.
